My lil pumpkin

It doesn't feel much like fall around here, but we are pretending at least a little.  Can't believe Halloween is just around the corner(Hayden is going to be Tinkerbelle) and time to start thinking about the holidays(so not ready) Can you see how much Miss H's hair has grown??  She pretty much has a little bob at this point.  I think we need a little trim, but it has really just taken off, I think it looks sooooo CUTE!!!

**Shiyu, those are one of the pairs of shoes you sent to Hayden from Chongqing, they fit now and she loves them, she says they are comfortable!!

Flutasia

Last night our library hosted "Flutasia" which is a flute choir.  So we ran up and listened for a bit.  Why you ask???  Well Hayden has a sport cup straw that she walks around the house blowing, and it sounds like the flute.  So she tells us that she is playing the flute.  David thought she needed to see and hear real flutes.  It was actually really good, and the music was pretty lively.  Hayden sat still and listened for almost 45 minutes, not bad for a 2 yr old.  She did confirm that she still wants to play the piano or the harp, and not play the flute.  I told her that was just fine, whatever she decides works for me:)

They played a song that sounded like a calliope and she was wanted to get up and do a jig:)

This was at the end when she had had enough sitting still, so we moved to the back.

**poor quality pics because I took them with my phone

A trip to the pumpkin patch & our skivvies

Orange bow was the most "holidayish" we could be that particular day!!  We now have some pumpkin/Halloween ware!!  This was the little "petting farm" Hayden loved the little goats.

H petting the goat and that is her Rubiness to the right petting the other goat.  The girls LOVED feeding them grass!!

Ruby with part of her family and H feeding grass to the goats...which the goats LOVED too!!

Ruby is really not always so serious....she actually smiles and LAUGHS a lot, I just never capture it on film.  I think she is just so pretty...smile or no smile.  H told me after the pumpkin patch that Ruby is her best friend!!

Getting pictures on this VERY HOT autumn day was not an easy task and I am just documenting how difficult it was.  This is Gracie, Hayden, Ruby and Mac.  Ruby's brother and sister, and let me tell you that they are the BEST!!!!

Mac pushing Hayden on the tractor.....she is a terrible driver, does not have any sense of steering at all.

This is the one decent picture I got of Hayden, and it was because she was waiting for her kettle corn!!!  Check out how DIRTY her shoes are in this pic!!

Just keep scrolling and see that it was IMPOSSIBLE I tell you to get all 3 looking and smiling.  Poor Gracie was being so patient.  Of course it was Hayden most of the time doing her own thing....nothing new!!!

"hmmmmm what are they doing over there I wonder??"

"mommy I am itching and HOT"

"mommy can I take my dress off now?" NICE!!  such a lady we are raising!!!  Beats the day she actually did take her clothes off at the library!!

This was seriously the best that we were able to capture.  Ruby the movie star and Hayden the "gangsta" which is her way of saying "I am totally over this now"

Girls were not really understanding this concept!!!  But it was cute and funny all the same:)  Again the sweet and lovely Gracie was up there just trying to get them to stick their heads in the holes:)

The girls sliding...thanks to Gracie!!  They must have gone down this slide 30 times!!!  We had a blast spending the afternoon with Ruby and her family and we are planning a trip back in the evening so we can go on the hayride!!!
I am adding this VERY casual picture from this morning.  Somone emailed me recently that I don't actually know, and asked if Hayden was dressed "beautifully" EVERY SINGLE day and did she actually own any "play clothes"  So I thought I would show you all that we do actually have "play clothes" and she is not dress what I would call "beautifully" everyday.  I will say that most days she does wear a dress, she does ALWAYS have a bow or a clip in her hair, but a lot of the time her dress is from Targ@t, or is a hand-me-down.  I waited a really long time to be a mommy to this little girl, and yes I shopped  A LOT for her while we waited, and I continue to shop for her.  I LOVE dressing her everyday, and I think she looks really cute most day's.  But sometimes you will find her in her pj's with jelly on the front from breakfast or better yet sometimes in just a lovely polka dot diaper....just like everyone else's kid.

First Parade and playdate at the park.

Waiting for the homecoming parade to start....her question "can I pet the parade?"  Okay she has never been to a parade and I think had no idea what is was we were doing.

"when do we see the parade mom?"(daddy working every minute possible)

Okay it doesn't show here....but she LOVED the parade and waving to everyone, and the candy.  LOVED the marching band and all the cheerleaders waving to her!!!  She didn't seem to mind the noise at all, even the fire trucks.

Our favorite playmates Miss Amy and Her Rubiness.  We had a fun day at the park riding trikes and having a picnic.  Hayden actually took this picture!!  Not bad for a 2 year old.

BFF's holding hands....how cute is this picture??

The girls traded shoes(Hayden had ditched Rubes shoes already) but Hayden's were a wee too small for Rubes and she didn't care a bit, she just wore them as high-heels.

They were just walking and chatting away with each other, soooo cute:)

Hayden just stopped and decided Ruby needed a hug I guess!!!Ruby is getting use to Hayden's VERY affectionate ways.

I could just squeeze these girls!!

Ruby finally decided to ditch the shoes, I think they must have been hurting!!!

Hayden and her Rubiness

Miss Ruby came home from China back in July if you remember...Ruby is doing FANTASTIC and is just an AWESOME little girl with a family that rocks!!

Now the downside to being a child to parents that are "older" is that you don't get as much exposure to other kids as one would necessarily like, but we work on that constantly at our house.  Anyway, Hayden really still seems unsure at times of what to do with friends, or exactly how to react.  I know part of this is age....they parallel play more than play together at this age.  Anyway, from the VERY moment that Hayden met her Rubiness at the airport back in July, Hayden has been smitten with her new friend.  Hayden is incredibly sweet to Ruby and REALLY loves spending time with her and playing together, they actually play together and both seem smitten with one another.  We are so lucky because Ruby is also in our gymnastics class and so each week we go to class and the girls are THRILLED to see one another and then after class we head to lunch.  This was after lunch last week and the girls just zipped up and down that slide.  They had a blast and I just love watching their friendship blossom and thrive.  We love Ruby, her mommy and her whole family, and are just so blessed that we met them and instantly became friends!!  This week we are trike riding after gymnastics and then we are planning a trip to the arboretum to see the 40,000 pumpkins:)

Oh thank you for such great friends!!!

It is all about the cupcakes

We had a lovely birthday celebration(yes another....don't judge) with my roommates from college.  Miss Stacy and Miss Michelle are pretty important people to us, and they no doubt wanted their own celebration with the princess.  We had an awesome lunch where Miss H was conversing with our waiter in spanish...yes Hola as well as every other spanish word she knows.  She opened presents....and they were AWESOME.  Then we walked over to our favorite cupcake store "Dimples" and well all I can say is I think they are the BEST cupcakes in town.  The girls loved them and Hayden scored a free cupcup from the very sweet girl working!!  Miss Stacy captured Miss H's love of Dimples.  I would say this captured her love of today.  She loves those girls just like her mama does.  Thank you Michelle and Stacy for a wonderful time!!
